Patrick Kane Had Control
Since he possesses a full no-movement clause in his expiring contract, he had complete control over his destiny. The New York Post reported on February 22nd that the New York Rangers still had an interest in acquiring Kane.
The obvious issue would be how to afford his $10.5 million contract. Kane has already stated that he would approve of going to the Rangers. It could require a third team to get involved in financing the deal. Kane stated that he was disappointed that the Rangers had acquired Vladimir Tarasenko.
Any Team Would Love to Add Kane
He is sure to be a Hall-of-Fame player when he quits playing the game. Kane has collected 446 goals, and 779 assists, in 1,161 games. He is instrumental on the power play with 122 goals, and 276 assists.
He had been thinking about staying with the only team he’s played for in his career. Of late, he has made it known that he was ready to move on with another team.
What This Means Going Forward
Patrick Kane immediately helps his new team since he is such a dominant offensive player. His shot is exceptional and he still has the speed needed to make rushes into the offensive zone. He can certainly help a Cup contender achieve their goal of winning it all. He also brings that playoff experience with him and has three championships to his credit.
Can he add a fourth? We shall see. One thing is certain, he is a dynamic player and deserves to be on a team where he can win another ring.
