The World Baseball Classic is ongoing and everyday things happen that will affect your Major League team. I will be doing a few of these that will cover AL and NL play so buckle up and hope players from your team can stay healthy throughout the process. But first, a WBC mistake. A huge one.
Great Britain Jersey Foul
Great Britain looks like they slept in their uniforms. Other than having the flag on it, it was bland and disgusting to look at. They looked like they were made at Joe’s t-shirt emporium the night before. If you’re looking to grow the game, how about putting in more than five minutes in designing this abomination? I can see kids all around the United States this Halloween. I understand they don’t care about baseball like they would like soccer or tennis, but they care more about cooking competitions!
The Mets Had a Bullpen Injury
The New York Mets saw that left reliever; Brooks Raley left the USA team with a hamstring injury. It appears to be a low-grade strain and we’ll see where that goes. In the meantime, the worst possible thing happened. Aaron Loup replaced him on the roster. Mets fans are still sore that they never re-signed Loup two seasons ago. One non-WBC injury is Kodai Senga who hurt his finger and missed a start.
Pete Alonso Getting In Against Canada
For some reason, Pete Alonso didn’t play against Great Britain. I get that Team USA has Paul Goldschmidt and Kyle Schwarber, no offense to Schwarber, but Alonso is better at first base and at DH. It makes sense playing behind Goldschmidt at first base. I do see that. Alonso is one of the three premier power bats in the game. Mike Trout, another teammate, should play every game, but so should Pete. Manager Mark DeRosa is on my list.

Shohei Ohtani is The Show
Team Japan has the most talked about player in the game. He is the closest thing to Babe Ruth that we’ve seen. Ohtani is hitting doubles and pitching three innings and striking a lot of the opposition. Ohtani went deep for the first time against Mexico and he’s stealing bases. Nobody should ever question this guy’s love for the game. It’s immense and as a result, he is the most popular player in the game and one of the best three players as well. How much longer will he play for the Angels? That’s the big question. There’s a lot of smoke that says he could play for the Seattle Mariners next season. The Mets will make a significant run at him as well.
