The 2023 NFL season begins in just around 10 weeks. Just beforehand, everyone will be finalizing their predictions on who will win divisions and possibly playoff games. But what about some bets to look forward to in the early portion of the summer? NFL team win total bets provide a fascinating look between expectations and realistic finishes for teams that could be difficult to prognosticate.
There will be many teams that achieve more than what the experts are saying right now. From the perspective of winning and losing, there are many worthy candidates to point to for hitting the over on their win totals. We will list three teams that provide the best value if you believe they will hit the over on their win total for 2023. Afterwards, we will do the same for best values on hitting the under on their win total next week.
Who are three teams that provide tremendous value on the over for their 2023-win total? Let’s kick it off.
Odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook
New Orleans Saints: Over 9.5 Wins, +105 Odds
The New Orleans Saints may have the best overall roster right now in the weak NFC South. From an experience perspective, New Orleans has plenty of veteran leaders littered throughout premium positions. Can Derek Carr come in and take the next step in his career? If you are betting on the over for the Saints win total, part of that has to be due to the supporting cast around Carr. The brand-new New Orleans signal caller is arguably going to have his most well-rounded supporting cast in his career.
Outside of the offense, the Saints passing defense and scoring defense was in the top ten last year. When looking at the schedule outside of their lowly division, New Orleans will once again have a chance to be one of the top passing defenses in the league. Some of that is due in large part to the secondary that they have built. However, the Saints will be facing many questionable starting quarterbacks in moments where they may have to consistently air it out. Opposing offenses like the Titans, Bears, Packers, Texans, Colts and Rams all face notable questions as passing attacks. Those games could lead to over half of their wins needed to hit the over on the win total.
New England Patriots: Over 7.5 Wins, +100 Odds

Getting plus odds on this number of 7.5 wins for the New England Patriots seems to be more of a steal the closer we get to the 2023 regular season. Overall, Mac Jones is an easy candidate to take a massive step forward at the quarterback position, perhaps as good as any young passer in the NFL. Bill O’Brien may not have had the greatest ending to his head coaching tenure. Nevertheless, his ability to design and game plan offenses is fairly impressive. His impact on Jones alone could be intriguing. To boot, Jones’ skill set of winning on accuracy, vertical shots and instincts fit this new offensive scheme perfectly.

Elsewhere, the Patriots are always going to be stingy defensively. They have an ability to keep any game close. And even against high-powered offenses on their schedule like the Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Chiefs, Chargers, Eagles and Cowboys, New England can put pressure on them with both the pass rush and secondary. New England went 8-9 last year, despite being heavily disorganized. The over with this 7.5 figure looks much more favorable to hit the deeper we get into the summer.
Carolina Panthers: Over 7.5 Wins, -120 Odds

We go back to the NFC South for our third and final team. There were a few other teams in the mix for this spot. Though, the Carolina Panthers appear to be building significant momentum within their facility in a small period of time. For one, the entire coaching staff is one of the deepest assembled coaching staffs in the league. Head coach Frank Reich has a great history of developing young quarterbacks. Bryce Young is being surrounded by battle-tested offensive skill players as well.
All told, the Panthers could end up having the most steady roster of the other three teams outside of New Orleans in this weaker NFC South. As much as I like what Atlanta has built, there may be more freedom for Young than someone like a Desmond Ridder to operate. Historical context clues would also tell you that Carolina has recently found more ways to grind out wins than the Falcons have. That could make a difference, if each team is near .500 at the end of the season.
