Everyone has sports arguments. Yet, which settled topics need to be put to rest and never discussed again?
Now, in a year-round cycle, sports continue to captivate a nationwide audience. Granted, baseball remains America’s pastime. However, football, basketball and hockey reside in the top seat as America’s obsession. From bars to houses to cookouts, two or more people will inevitably engage in a long, seemingly endless debate. With that said, certain topics need to find their way into the retired bin.
“Tom Brady Is A System QB”
For years, this conversation flooded my eardrums. Yet, ask one person to name the offense that Brady perfected. Answer: Modified Ehrhardt-Perkins. What does that mean? First, the offensive started in the 1970s, so it predates Brady by two decades. Next, the scheme used varied personnel packages and formations. Within that thought, backs would receive the ball more than operate as a standalone workhorse rusher, Lastly, Peyton Manning used a variation of the same offense to win Super Bowls. He’s not considered a system quarterback. Other teams also implement the scheme. Tom Brady leaves for Tampa, playing in a scheme that uses deeper passes, which he excels in. During three seasons as Buc, Brady’s completion percentage rose to 66.7 while tallying 108 touchdowns. If you still use the system excuse for Brady slander, just stop talking and hold that L. The most useless argument in sports.

“LeBron Is Better Than Jordan”
With honesty and all due respect, who cares? In the first place, the two competed in two different eras that cannot be compared. The handcheck rule is the one major defense. In 2004, in order to increase scoring, the NBA outlawed handchecking. Jordan played his whole career under a physical style. Meanwhile, the referees call things differently. Now, does that mean Jordan is superior to James? No, of course not. People cannot parse that one basic point. Statistically, LeBron beats Jordan in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, rebounds and assists. Jordan led in steals, points and free throw percentage. Jordan retired undefeated in the NBA Finals. James won’t. LeBron James is the most physically gifted, technically sound player for his size. Jordan will always be the most competitive player ever. While each player possesses strengths and weaknesses, comparing them on cold stats since no film exists is just tiresome.
” I Can Be An MMA Fighter In A Few Months”
This one is weird to me. If a regular person watches the UFC and automatically thinks they belong in the octagon, they’re on something. In no world could Joe Couch Potato just walk into a gym and train, then immediately enter the largest mixed martial arts company on the planet. By the same token, winning a bar brawl or a street fight will never prepare you for life as an MMA fighter. If you look at the discipline, sacrifice and time it takes, you will see MMA as one of toughest sports. Imagine a sport where you need to attempt to retain consciousness while your opponents seek to put you to sleep. Plus, making weight. That is to say, weighing within one pound of a previously agreed upon weight. If you don’t, the opponent takes twenty percent of your purse.
Overview
Sports, especially debates, can be contentious. In contrast, they remain a vital part of American discourse. However, the need for new debates arises. By eliminating the above three debates, we can finally bring originality to sports.

I could not agree more.
“Brady is a system QB” is exactly what “they” used to and still do say about Joe Montana. It is also likely what was once also said about Otto Graham. It’s just a slander by jealous folks who can’t recognize greatness.
Pretty much all quarterbacks after Terry Bradshaw. Are system quarterbacks asTerry Bradshaw was the last quarterback to call all of his own plays which I do not understand why the older quarterbacks or not given their just do not only did they call their playsthey played an era when cornerbacks mugged receivers and you could kill a quarterback most of the quarterbacks up today could not have survived prior to 1980
Jordan is the best ever. No person before or since can really compare.
Brady WAS the system. However, end of discussion. Brady is the GOAT!!!!! Put it to rest!!
