Expect a big season from Elijah Moore

There has been one common theme throughout OTA’s and the Browns’ trip to West Virginia ahead of training camp. Rave reviews of Elijah Moore. The newly acquired wide receiver has seemingly caught the eye of anyone and everyone in attendance as Cleveland is getting ready for the season. The near-universal praise so far points in the direction of a big season from Moore.

A major contributing factor is that Elijah Moore will be playing with the best quarterback he has played with up to this point, Deshaun Watson. The quarterback situation in New York was far from acceptable which led to struggles to find consistency on offense. Landing with the Browns will now give Moore a real chance to bloom.

While there are some very valid concerns when it comes to Watson, the belief is that he will rebound from his rusty Browns debut last season. A return to form for Watson will result in a more potent passing offense in Cleveland. Moore (and others) will benefit from the first normal offseason in Cleveland under Kevin Stefanski.

Cleveland’s other playmakers should lead to Elijah Moore having a breakout season

The wide receiver getting the most attention in Cleveland was always going to be and will be Amari Cooper. Cooper is one of the better receivers in the game and he will command the attention of the defense. This is going to lead to players such as Elijah Moore to make big plays in the passing game and have plenty of scoring opportunities.

Cleveland was lacking a true number two wide receiver last season, one of the reasons why they decided to acquire Elijah Moore this past offseason. While the role was played by Donovan Peoples-Jones, he is more suited to be a tertiary option in the passing game. There are certain traits that Moore has and Peoples-Jones does not and bumping him to where he belongs it will allow this passing game to truly take shape.

There is another area of this offense that Moore will be a beneficiary of. The presence of Nick Chubb. Chubb is the best running back in the league and makes opposing defenses account for a productive rushing attack. This will lead to opportunities a few times per game where Elijah Moore will have a chance to make a big play downfield. It is about being able to seize the moment when a defense is playing a little too close to the line leaving them susceptible to an explosive play. The Browns have had issues in recent years capitalizing on those chances, but that should not be an issue moving forward.

With all of the weapons in place in Cleveland it would not be a surprise to see Moore set new career highs in receptions (43), yards (538), and possibly touchdowns (5) rather quickly. In fact, it should be counted on as Cleveland’s passing offense is a sleeping giant waiting to wreak havoc.
