The 2023 NFL preseason is underway. It started when the Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Jets in the Hall of Fame Game over a week ago. Those two clubs will be the only teams to play four preseason contests.
Over the last few weeks, there have been quite a few veteran players signed around the league. Clubs are still tweaking their rosters, while injuries have also played a part in these recent additions.
When it comes to the offensive side of the ball, there are still some solid players who could help a club sooner than later.
10. QB Carson Wentz
He was the second pick in the 2016 draft by the Eagles. Carson Wentz was off to a great start in ‘17 before injuries set in. He was dealt to the Colts in 2021 and traded to Washington in ‘22. He played in eight games and was released in February. Wentz has 151 TD passes but 95 turnovers in 93 regular-season games.
9. WR Kenny Golladay
The 2019 Pro Bowler with the Lions is available after he was cut loose by the Giants this offseason after a pair of disappointing years with the club. Kenny Golladay was limited to five games with Detroit in 2020. In his last three seasons, he’s missed 19 games and totaled just 63 catches for 940 yards and three scores.
8. G Dalton Risner
A second-round pick by the Broncos in 2019, the former Kansas State standout has played in and started 62 contests. Guard Dalton Risner recently visited the Minnesota Vikings, but no deal was struck. The 28-year-old pro could be an immediate starter for a team that may suffer a critical injury in the preseason.
7. WR Julio Jones
The resume for the seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro is impressive. Julio Jones has totaled 903 receptions for 13,629 yards and 63 scores. However, the 13-year veteran has played in only 29 regular-season games since 2020 and has a combined 106 grabs (6 TDs) with Atlanta, Tennessee and Tampa Bay.
6. WR Jarvis Landry
The five-time Pro Bowler with the Dolphins (3) and Browns (2) signed with the Saints in 2022. The former LSU standout had a rough year in the Big Easy. Jarvis Landry caught only 25 passes for 272 yards and one score in nine outings, all career lows. He’s totaled 713 receptions in nine NFL campaigns, 38 for scores.
5. C Ben Jones
The 11-year performer was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2022 but was part of Tennessee’s offseason house-cleaning. Center Ben Jones had not missed a game in his career until this past season. The reliable performer has made 161 regular-season and postseason starts for the Texans and Titans.

4. RB Kareem Hunt
There have been recent visits to both New Orleans and Indianapolis. However, speedy running back Kareem Hunt left the Saints and Colts without agreeing to a deal and was in Minnesota on Friday. He was a nice compliment to Nick Chubb in Cleveland and still has big-play potential. Hunt also has playoff experience with the Chiefs and Browns.

3. RB Ezekiel Elliott
He won NFL rushing titles in both his first and third seasons. A year ago, he took a back seat to Pro Bowler Tony Pollard. It should also be noted that Ezekiel Elliott led the Cowboys in carries (231) and rushing touchdowns (12) in 2022. The three-time Pro Bowl has run for 10-plus scores in four of his seven seasons.
2. TE Cameron Brate
The former undrafted free agent from Harvard comes off a year in which he missed six games. Cameron Brate caught just 20 passes for 174 yards and didn’t score in those contests, but did have a TD grab in the playoff loss to the Cowboys. He also had a strong postseason during the Bucs’ Super Bowl run in 2020.
1. RB Dalvin Cook
What is more surprising? The Vikings parting ways with the four-time Pro Bowler or that no NFL team has been unable to secure his services. Dalvin Cook has totaled 1,100-plus yards on the ground in four straight seasons dating back to 2019. Over that span, he has amassed 6,423 yards from scrimmage and 46 TDs.
