The 0-3 Chicago Bears face a big test in Week 4. They host the equally struggling and 0-3 Denver Broncos. If the Bears lose this game then hard questions need to be asked.
The 2023 season is quickly going down the drain for the Chicago Bears. They are 0-3 and despite adding a load of talent to the roster from last season, are playing worse.
Chicago is on a current 13-game losing streak. During that streak, they’ve been outscored 437-245. Additionally, they’ve given up 25+ points in every game during this streak.
The offense still looks like it’s stuck in mud. The Bears cannot move the ball consistently. Despite having talented receivers like D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney, quarterback Justin Fields has been unable to find them.
There are multiple reasons for this. Fields is trying to be too perfect and he hesitates to make throws. Also, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is trying to turn Fields into a pure pocket passer, ignoring many of his other athletic abilities.
It all adds up to a team that is severely underperforming. No, many didn’t expect the Chicago Bears to be serious playoff contenders. However, the expectations were that they could win more than the three games they won last season.
At this point, it seems that reaching three wins could be difficult.
Bears face big game in Week 4
In Week 4 there will be a battle between winless teams at Soldier Field. The Bears host the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are also struggling at 0-3 this season. They also gave up 70 points to the Miami Dolphins in Week 3.
This is a big game for the Bears. It could affect the rest of the season. A win won’t make them a contender. However, a loss to the Broncos and whatever little hope there was of improving on last year’s win total could go out the window.
After this game, the Bears travel to take on the Washington Commander. They then host the Minnesota Vikings and the Las Vegas Raiders. After that, they go to Los Angeles to face the Chargers and New Orleans to face the Saints.

Ep 162: Joe Flacco, Dak Prescott and The MVP, Week 13 Discussion
by Full Press Coverage on December 3, 2023 at 3:58 pm
It may not be until Week 10 when they take on the Carolina Panthers that the Bears get their next opportunity at a win.
Yes, some of those other teams are also struggling. However, they’ve shown to have some semblance of an offense or defense that can give the Bears trouble.
If you think things are bad now, let them go to that Sunday Night Football telecast against Carolina still winless.
Eberflus must act
Head coach Matt Eberflus has to earn his title. He is the head coach, the one who is responsible for the team. With everything falling apart, he has to do what he can to stop it, or at least slow it down.
Eberflus has an advantage — the McCaskey family does not make changes in the middle of a season. They always wait until after the season, no matter how bad things get.
Former Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman completely lost control of his team back in 2014. Players were skipping practices for restaurant openings. Others admitted to tuning out the coaches during meetings.
The McCaskeys waited until the end of the season before they fired Trestman.
Even that team managed to win five games. In fact, in Trestman’s two seasons as head coach, the Bears won 13 games.
Eberflus’ teams will not get close to winning that many games in two seasons.
If Eberflus wants to continue being head coach he has to do something. The same way he expects his players to step up when they are called, he has to step up and turn things around.
Unless the McCaskeys change their policy, Eberflus will have an opportunity to turn things around. It won’t take much to do so. Once there seems to be a competent offense and a defense that can make a few stops and the wins start trickling in, he could earn himself another chance.
So far, though, Eberflus has done nothing. He keeps talking about continuing and not giving up. The time for talk is over, though. Eberflus can talk until he is blue in the face. Unless things change and there are some notches in the win column his players won’t respond to him. He needs to take some action and see those actions succeed.
It all starts this week against the Broncos.
