Welcome to a Monday edition of College Football News. It was another event Saturday in the College Football ranks. Some upsets. Especially if you are a fan of Auburn, who lost to New Mexico St. Some teams are getting into the zone as Championship Saturday approaches. However, the headlines off the field are making noise more than the play off the field that involves Jordan Travis and the Pac-12 staying together.
First, it was Conference Realignment, followed by the 12-team playoff. Then we had Jim Harbaugh back in the news along with Jimbo Fisher. Now we have the Florida State Seminoles in the news and star quarterback Jordan Travis. In addition, there is news coming out of the Pac-12.
In this edition of College Football News, we break down both of these stories as there is only one week left in the regular season in the College Football season.
College Football News: Jordan Travis and Pac-12
Jordan Travis Announces His Football Career is Over at Florida State.
Star quarterback Jordan Travis announced on social media that his playing days are over at Florida State. Travis confirmed in a post that his season was over after suffering a lower leg injury in the Seminoles’ win over North Alabama on Saturday afternoon.

Travis thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers since the injury. He was tackled at the end of a run, and his left leg bent awkwardly underneath him. Trainers rushed to the field immediately, and he was carted off with an air cast on his left leg and taken to the hospital.
“I have been overwhelmed by the support from my teammates, coaches, the Florida State community, and those all around the world,” Travis wrote in his statement as seen above. “Although the injury … marks the end of my Seminole playing career, the great memories created here at FSU will never fade.
“Being the quarterback here at Florida State University has been a dream come true. I am humbled, honored, and forever grateful. The journey this team set out on is not over yet as all of our goals still lie just ahead. I am excited to be by my brothers’ sides every day as we continue our attack. We’re all we got; we’re all we need. Job’s not finished. Go Noles!”
Travis has been such a great player for Florida St. In his time with the university, Travis helped bring the Seminoles back to relevancy in the ACC as he threw for 8,715 yards. In addition, he amassed a school-record 10,676 yards of total offense.

Fate of the Pac-12 Determined
In a big ruling on Saturday night, the NCAA will allow the Pac-12 conference to have two teams for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. This is huge news, considering what happened to the conference right before the season started. The Pac-12 was rated by the Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC, leaving Washington State and Oregon State as the only two members of the conference.
And just look at the conference this season. The Pac-12 is having one of the best seasons in conference history. The ruling by the NCAA will allow the Pac-12 time to either merge with the Mountain West and keep the Pac-12 name, though it won’t be the same, or have Washington State and Oregon State join conferences down the line.
NCAA bylaws dictate that conferences must have at least eight members to compete at the FBS level.
However, the bylaws also dictate that a conference shall continue to be considered an FBS conference for two years following “the date when it fails to satisfy the eight full FBS member requirement due to one or more of its member’s failure to comply with the FBS membership requirements.”
The hope is for the conference to remain as the Pac-12 is keeping new membership open for financial reasons, as assets and intellectual property for the conference could be worth more than $100 million after the 10 schools departed earlier this season for the ACC, Big Ten, and Big 12.
Another story to keep an eye on as the season winds down.
Quick Jim Harbaugh Update
Not to mention Jim Harbaugh could be leaving for the NFL as there are sanctions that could be put in place next year where the coach could miss the enter season.
