Uneventful, unnoteworthy, prosaic, humdrum…words occupying my thoughts this past week in Buffalo Bills country as the Tyrod Taylor decision is the next big announcement anticipated by Bills fans.

The amazing Team USA women’s hockey victory had truly inspired me. It had me celebrating the defeat of Canada for the gold medal. The extremely dismal performance by the outclassed men’s hockey team was long over. Thank you, Gary Bettman. I think players Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel on a line would have carried Team USA just a tad farther.  Ya think? I haven’t forgiven you for the “No Goal” call way back in 1999.  Oh yes, the same year the Bills drought began…

The almost inactive and unimpressive display Buffalo produced the day it all is supposed to go down, trade deadline day, almost cursed me with the demeanor of One “Negative Stanley”.  Then the Bills saved the day when the announcement that they came to terms with two-time pro-bowl cornerback, Vontae Davis formerly on the Indianapolis Colts.

The Bills made the playoffs and took some negative trade deadline failure attention off the Buffalo Sabres all in one year. This could be the Bills well on the way to circling the wagon. Now, one can only hope this does not have the Sabres trending to beat the Bills playoff drought. They already have a bit of a jump on it since the last playoff appearance was 2011.

Things We Know About The Buffalo Bills This Week:

  • Tre’Davious White found himself as one of the NFL’s top ten coverage cornerbacks in the NFL list.  This is advantageously impressive for a rookie at such a difficult ponderous position.
  • A recent mock draft has the Bills taking a quarterback and a wide receiver with the two first-round picks they currently hold after realizing trading up 20 plus spots would be much too costly.  This particular mock draft has Buffalo selecting quarterback Mason Rudolph, out of Oklahoma State University. They next select wide receiver James Washington also out of Oklahoma State which would be a reunion of a very successful college tandem without giving up a bunch of picks to acquire just the quarterback position if they traded up. Now they have all the other drafts they were able to keep with this technique to address the other important needs on both sides of the ball.
  • The recent signing of Vontae Davis is a big upgrade for the already exceptional Bills secondary, but what will this mean for cornerback E.J. Gaines? With free agency right around the corner, things are about to get interesting.
