Troy bowl history

Key player to watch for each team

Buffalo: Linebacker – Khalil Hodge

Troy: Linebacker – Hunter Reese

Game Notes:

Buffalo

The Bulls just completed their first 10 win season in school history. Buffalo is led by the athletic Tyree Jackson at quarterback along with wide receiver Anthony Johnson, who is a big play waiting to happen. They also have gotten strong offensive line play this year. Obviously, defense is where the strength of this team lies, led by future NFL linebacker, Khalil Hodge. Additionally, Buffalo should be motivated by giving up a big lead against offensively challenged Northern Illinois in the MAC title game. One interesting note is that Buffalo takes good care of the football while forcing a handful themselves.

Troy

Troy is not the explosive offense that we have seen in the past, partly due to an injury at quarterback. The running game is also not the strength that is has been at times. Troy is actually rated a little higher than Buffalo is on defense, which is the reason they have won nine games.

Final analysis

This game is hard to gauge considering both offenses are not amazing, but both teams have strong defenses. Buffalo is in the midst of a historic season while Troy fell just short of the Sun Belt title game. Either way, this should be a tight contest.
