Cutdown Days Looming For Patriots
By Tuesday the 24th of August, New England, as well as the rest of the league, must reduce their rosters from 85 players to 80. This is the second to last cut down before teams get to their official 53-man roster. The Patriots will have a number of interesting decisions to make, especially at the running back position. The health of N’Keal Harry and the status of Stephon Gilmore could impact those decisions when the time comes. NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 by August 31st.
What To Expect Against The Giants
As opposed to more recent preseasons, 2020 notwithstanding, teams play just three games and have essentially two weeks off before kicking off the regular season. Now, this could mean a bit of a different approach as to who plays throughout the game. In most cases, the final preseason game doesn’t see many snaps from the presumed starters. Of course, teams want to get a final look at some of the fringe players before the final cutdown. Additionally, limiting the starter’s snaps gave them extra time to prepare for the upcoming start of the season. However, in this case, all players will get that time off before the start of the season so there is a chance you see some of the Patriots starters, such as Cam Newton (yes, we are assuming here) see a good number of snaps against the Giants.
