Over the past few weeks, there have been quite a few lopsided results. Only five of the 32 contests played in Week 1 (3) and Week 2 (2) were decided by 20-plus points. There were five such games in Week 3. This past week, six of the 16 games were of this lopsided variety.
Will there be more of the same in Week 5? There are only 14 games. Speaking of that number, that’s the current losing streak for the Bears, who are in Washington for a Thursday night tilt.

After jumping out to a 3-0 start and off a 70-point outburst against the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins were limited to 20 points in a lopsided loss to the Bills. Those 70 points are worth revisiting. There are nine teams that have yet to reach that total in four games: the Giants (46), Bengals (49), Patriots (55), as well as the Jets, Steelers, Raiders, Saints and Falcons (all with 62 points), and finally the Panthers (67).

In Monday night’s home loss to the Seahawks, the Giants gave up 11 sacks in the 24-3 setback. Daniel Jones was the recipient of 10 of those. The season’s most-sacked quarterback in the league is Sam Howell (24). The NFL record for a player being sacked in a season is held by David Carr, He was dropped 76 times in the Texans’ inaugural season in 2002. As for a team, the 1986 Eagles gave up an incredible 104 sacks.

More on the Giants, who are off to a 1-3 start. They have totaled an NFL-low 46 points in four outings. Only the Cincinnati Bengals have averaged fewer total yards per game than Brian Daboll’s club. The Giants have been outscored a combined 94-15 in losses to the Cowboys, 49ers and Seahawks. Daboll’s squad has struggled early in games. Incredibly, there have been just three first-half field goals and zero touchdowns.

The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers renew acquaintances this Sunday. Including playoffs, this will mark the 34th meeting between the clubs dating back to 2008. That was John Harbaugh’s first season in Baltimore and Mike Tomlin’s second year in the Steel City. All told, 18 of the previous 33 encounters between the rivals have been decided by three or fewer points, five of those games settled in overtime.

There are only 14 games in Week 5 as the Browns, Chargers, Seahawks and Buccaneers are the first clubs to enjoy some time off. Six of those contests are Interconference affairs. That includes Monday night’s clash in Las Vegas between the Packers and Raiders. After a Week 1 win at Denver, Josh McDaniels’ club has lost three straight games. Surprisingly, the club has failed to score at least 20 points in any of its four contests.
