Welcome to another edition of Full Press Hockey’s NHL Rumors! Teams are always looking to improve, and the excitement of another NHL season is upon us. With the March 8th trade deadline approaching, the rumors are hot and heavy!
In this Wednesday edition of NHL Rumors, we’ll examine the Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Colorado Avalanche.
NHL rumors in this edition include:
Are the Golden Knights looking to add veteran forward Jason Zucker? Are the Canes shopping Tony DeAngelo? Would Dominik Kubalik be a good fit in Colorado?
Vegas Golden Knights – Jason Zucker
Rumor: Per – Michael DeRosa – nhltraderumors.me. With the Coyotes falling in the standings, the Golden Knights are buyers at the trade deadline.
Zucker could be an excellent addition to the Vegas second or third line. He is on an expiring one-year deal paying him $5.3 million. The Golden Knights currently have $8.55 million in cap space due mainly to Jack Eichel‘s $10 million contract being listed in long-term injury reserve. If he comes back, the team would need to see if the Coyotes would retain some salary or make other cap adjustments.
Zucker could add offense and some grit to the Vegas lineup. He has collected eight goals and 14 assists in 45 games this season. No doubt his numbers would increase on a better, reigning Cup-winning team. He could also join the power play unit.
The Coyotes could be interested in additional draft picks to add to their collection or even a prospect like Brandon Brisson. He has tallied 71 points in 106 AHL games and can play all three forward positions.
Carolina Hurricanes – Tony DeAngelo
Rumor: Per – James Wilson – nhltraderumors.me. Surprise… Tony D. is being shopped.
The Canes are deep on the blue line, and DeAngelo may be the odd man out. While there is no doubt that DeAngelo can add to the offense on the backline, he is quite a controversial player. He has added 47 goals and 161 assists in 363 career NHL games.

Because of his past reputation, it could be difficult to find a trade partner. He is signed to an expiring $1.675 million deal, which is reasonable enough if an interested team can accept his flaws. His tenure with the team has been marked by inconsistent playing time and frequent healthy scratches.
Even with his reasonable contract, it may be that DeAngelo may find it pretty difficult to find a new home. He has only added two goals and seven assists in 24 games this season. We will need to wait to see what happens to the enigmatic defenseman as the trade deadline approaches.

Colorado Avalanche – Dominik Kubalik
Rumor: Per – Connor Green – insidetherink.com. Does Dominik Kubalik make sense for the Colorado Avalanche?
The Avs are tight in the salary cap area and have done as well as can be expected without their captain, Gabriel Landeskog. Add in that Valeri Nichushkin is currently enrolled in the NHL Player’s Assistance Program, and they need some help. Acquiring Kubalik would augment their middle six and help the offense in the postseason.
He has added 91 goals and 82 assists in 330 NHL games. For some reason, his statistics this season have plummeted to only nine goals and three assists in 48 games playing for the Ottawa Senators.
The prospective offense that Kubalik can add should be highlighted on a much better team like the Avalanche.
His salary cap obligation is $2.5 million, so the Avs will need some salary retention to make a deal work. Considering that Kubalik has scored 20 or more goals twice in his NHL career, he may be worth a look by the Colorado club.
That concludes this edition of NHL rumors. Stay tuned right here to get the latest on NHL rumors as the deadline gets closer. Thanks for reading!
