We are just days away from the start of the new NFL league year, and we have already seen a flurry of activity as teams attempt to get below the cap.
A product of this activity is a number of new free agents and plenty of teams looking to move on from some over-priced veterans. And, of course, the rumors are running rampant.
In this edition of NFL rumors, we will look at the Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, and Tennessee Titans.
Los Angeles Chargers – Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa Available?
Rumor: The Chargers are reportedly open to trading Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa, per Dianna Russini.
The Chargers are open to trade offers for many veteran players including Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, per sources. There are teams interested but many around the league are willing to wait to see if the Chargers cut them soon.

The Chargers enter a whole new era with the arrival of Jim Harbaugh from Michigan. Will he be able to salvage Justin Herbert‘s career and bring this team to new heights? Perhaps. However, before he reaches that hurdle, he and the Chargers’ front office have plenty more pressing matters to deal with, and that includes making a decision on what to do about the team’s two star pass rushers. Khalil Mack is coming off one of his best seasons in 2023 with 17 sacks. However, he is 33, and the Chargers may want to get the most significant return while his stock is high and give them even more cap relief—approximately $23 million. Could his former team, the Las Vegas Raiders, come calling? He will surely garner plenty of attention.
Bosa, on the other hand, is one of the league’s best pass rushers when he is healthy. He has played just 14 games over the last two seasons, including nine in 2023. Bosa is 28 and still has two years left on his five-year deal from 2020. Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post reports that the Lions could be interested in either Bosa or Mack if they were to be traded or cut.
Chicago Bears – Interest In Free Agent Josh Jacobs?
Rumor: According to Jason McKie, there is mutual interest between the Bears and free agent running back Josh Jacobs.

“I texted him he would look great in a Bears uniform. He’s like, ‘Hey, there’s mutual interest.’”
Jacobs has spent all five of his seasons in the NFL with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, where he has rushed over 1,000 yards three times, including leading the league in 2022 with 1,653 yards and 2,053 total yards from scrimmage. He matched a career-best with 12 touchdowns and has found the endzone 46 times over his five seasons with the Raiders. The Bears were reported to have interest in Saquon Barkley earlier in the offseason, so it seems clear that they are looking to pair an elite running back with either Justin Fields or, presumably, Caleb Williams if they decide to hold on to and select a quarterback with the first overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Tennessee Titans – Derrick Henry Era Over?
Rumor: Despite the team claiming they haven’t closed the door on a reunion with Derrick Henry, Jeremy Fowler reports it is unlikely he will return to the Titans.
If this turns out to be accurate, it will end quite an eight-year stretch for the two-time rushing champ who found the endzone 90 times over those eight seasons. In addition, he amassed 9,502 yards on the ground, was a four-time Pro Bowler, and an All-Pro and the Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 when he rushed for 2,027 yards and scored 17 times. However, despite all the individual accolades, he hasn’t seen much success from a team standpoint outside of earning the top seed a few seasons ago, only to be knocked out in the first round. Now, Mike Vrabel is gone, and there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding Ryan Tannehill and the quarterback position, so the Titans look like they are far from reaching the heights of team success. Even if the Titans really wanted him back, Henry may be prioritizing winning over earning, and there will be plenty of contenders that would love to add Henry even in a deep free-agent running back market despite him being 29 and having a lot of miles on his legs.
“Uncertainty around Tannehill “???? No uncertainty. He is gone and it is Will Levi’s’ team now.
Salvage Justin Herbert’s career? I mean he’s only 25 or so.
