The New England Patriots have three notable injury situations to monitor ahead of Wednesday night’s season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
On Sunday’s Week 1 injury report, running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle), defensive tackle Christian Barmore (knee) and offensive lineman Ben Brown (knee) were all listed as did not participate. New England had no players listed as limited or full participants.
Henderson’s status may be the most significant offensively. The second-year running back is expected to have an important role alongside Rhamondre Stevenson, and his absence would remove one of New England’s most explosive options from the backfield. ESPN also identified Henderson’s availability as a key question entering the opener.
Barmore is equally important on the other side of the ball. He remains a centerpiece of New England’s interior defensive front, so his knee issue will be worth tracking as the Patriots prepare for Seattle’s offense.
For now, none of the three has received an official game designation. Sunday’s report reflects practice participation only, meaning their statuses can still change before the Patriots and Seahawks kick off Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 8:20 p.m. ET at Lumen Field.
The next injury update should provide a much better indication of whether Henderson, Barmore or Brown is trending toward playing.
