The Chicago Bears have ruled Caleb Williams out against the Philadelphia Eagles, narrowing their Monday night quarterback decision to Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum.
Saturday’s final injury report lists Williams out with a hamstring injury and Bagent questionable with a concussion. Bagent returned to full practice, but Chicago had not confirmed a starter as of Saturday evening, September 26.
Why Is Caleb Williams Out?
Williams injured his hamstring in the fourth quarter of the Bears’ Week 2 loss to Minnesota and did not practice this week. The out designation settles his availability for Philadelphia.
Is Tyson Bagent Cleared to Play?
Bagent’s return to practice is progress, but his questionable designation remains. Clearance to participate in practice should not be confused with final clearance to play following a concussion.
Could Case Keenum Start Against the Eagles?
Keenum remains a starting option. Ben Johnson also left open the possibility of Keenum starting with Bagent serving as the backup, depending on how the situation develops before kickoff.
That leaves two distinct questions: which quarterbacks will be available, and which available quarterback Chicago chooses to start. A change to Bagent’s medical status would help answer the first without automatically settling the second.
What the Bears’ Quarterback Decision Means
For Chicago, the immediate task is preparing an offense that can function with either option. For fantasy managers, Williams must come out of Week 3 lineups; choosing a replacement before Sunday’s games avoids leaving that decision until Monday.
The next meaningful update is an explicit announcement from the Bears on Bagent’s availability or the starting job. Until then, neither Bagent nor Keenum should be treated as the confirmed starter.
