Chris Ballard has made his first signing of the free agency period, bringing in former Raider’s defensive end Denico Autry.

Autry, 27, entered the league in 2016 with the Raiders and has been a solid rotational defensive lineman ever since. In 2017, he played in all 16 games, starting three, and recording a respectable 23 tackles, five sacks, and seven passes defended. He has the speed to play on the edge, and the strength to play inside. He fits perfectly as a rotational player in the Colts’ new 4-3 defensive scheme.

Last year, Chris Ballard hit home runs with under the radar signings such as Jabaal Sheard. This year, Autry looks to be that kind of player and his very affordable price tag definitely helps. The Colts are also reportedly interested in defensive linemen Benson Mayowa and Adrian Clayborn.
