Nur-Sultan Barys was supposed to hit the ice for a KHL’s regular-season game against Dinamo Riga. It won’t happen as the team has been ordered to head into quarantine after 12 members of the team tested positive for Covid-19.
The following is a statement from KHL:
”Six regular-season games involving Barys, which were scheduled to take place between Sep. 18 and Oct. 1, are postponed until a later date. The games affected are Barys vs Dinamo Riga (Sep. 18) and the next five road games at Severstal (Sep. 20), Metallurg (Sep. 22), Kunlun Red Star (Sep. 27), Vityaz (Sep. 29), and HC Sochi (Oct. 1).
Following preliminary positive tests for coronavirus involving 12 members of the playing and coaching staff, the team must undergo two weeks in quarantine.

Quite unfortunate times in the KHL as Barys now becomes the 2nd team that has been forced to quarantine. Just last week Jokerit Helsinki had been ordered to do the same by the Finnish health officials.
What is interesting for Dinamo that they have directly been involved with two postponements of the game and two referee squad changes due to Covid-19 and now they will return to Riga where they are supposed to face Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod on Tuesday. The Torpedo squad has had visible roster issues. The last time they played, the team iced only ten forwards. Is it related to the virus that has caused the global pandemic? We shall see as upon arrival the visiting team will have to undergo mandatory testing.
