New York Jets Weekly Report Card

The New York Jets rode to a 38-31 victory versus the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. While Gang Green walked away with a win, how did the team perform unit wise?

     

Quarterback

 Josh McCown    Final Grade: A

Key Statistics: Passing 26-36 331 yards 1 td, Rushing 7-19 yards 2 td’s, 30 total first downs, 42:49 time of possession

Receivers

 Robby Anderson & Jermaine Kearse  Final Grade: A

Key Statistics: J.Kearse 9-157 yards

R.Anderson 8-107 yards

Tight Ends

 Austin Seferian-Jenkins  Final Grade: C

Key Statistics: A. Seferian-Jenkins 2 – 7 yards.

Notes: Solid but not exceptional. Blocking was decent but not much pass catching.

Running Backs

 Matt Forte & Bilal Powell  Final Grade: B

Key Statistics: M.Forte 15-58 rushing, 3-33 receiving 1 td

B. Powell 18-48 rushing 1 td

Offensive Line

 Entire Unit Final Grade: A

Key Statistics: 85 offensive plays no sacks, 488 total net yards

Defensive Line

 Entire Unit:  Final Grade: C


Key Statistics: 
M. Wilkerson .5 sacks

L.Williams .5 sacks

As unit played held Kareem Hunt to 40 yards rushing. Ended the day with two sacks.

Notes: Muhammad Wilkerson was held out majority of first quarter. Still finished with team high in total tackles (6).

Linebackers

 Entire Unit  Final Grade: C

Key Statistics: J.Jenkins 1 sack, D.Davis 5 total tackles

Notes: Not a big statistical performance for the group. Darron Lee did not play due to missing practice on Saturday.

Secondary

 Entire Unit  Final Grade: D+


Key Statistics: 
Chiefs threw for 366 yards

M.Maye- 5 total tackles

Notes: Not a good day for the Jets back end. Travis Kelce lit it up early and Tyreek Hill took over from there. No turnovers and did little to slow down Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith

 

Special Teams

 Entire Unit  Final Grade: C+

 

Key Statistics: C.Catanzaro 3-3 field goals long of 47

Notes: Chandler Catanzaro was perfect attempting fields goals. Coverage teams were fine although Tyreek Hill had one long punt return. Jets returner JoJo Natson was unimpressive. Lachlan Edwards only had two punts on the day.

Coaching

 Entire Unit  Final Grade: B-

 

Key Statistics: New York offense 46 plays- 488 total net yards

Kansas City offense 85 plays-474 total net yards

Notes: Todd Bowles held Darron Lee out for the game and Mo Wilkerson sat for the first quarter. John Morton called a balanced game, was helped out by some Kansas City penalties in the fourth quarter. Defensive unit was torched all day on the ground and through the air with little adjustments.
