The Detroit Lions finished off the Chicago Bears in convincing fashion on Saturday, winning 20-10. The Lions defense almost pitched a shutout in the first half, which would have been the first time all season. The onus for that doesn’t fall on the defense tho, as running back Theo Riddick fumbled inside the Detroit 27 yard line, leaving a chip shot for Chicago kicker Mike Nugent.
While the offensive line is hurting, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was able to stay on his feet for most of the game. He was sacked by Chicago four times. Stafford was again efficient, failing to complete only eight passes during the game.
The entire starting right side of the offensive line was listed on the injury report this week. Right guard T.J. Lang (Foot) did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday along with center Travis Swanson (Concussion). Right tackle Rick Wagner was limited in practice for both days after missing the last two games with a sprained ankle. Wagner could see the field for this Sunday’s match with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Defensive end Dwight Freeney was listed as having not practiced on Wednesday but wasn’t injury related and could have been simply been time off for the veteran pass rusher. Also, Riddick was listed as having full practices both days while nursing a wrist injury.
Cincinnati Bengals Injury Report
The Bengals had a tough time in their road game against the Minnesota Vikings, only able to put together 161 yards of offense and one fourth-quarter score by running back Giovani Bernard. Quarterback Andy Dalton threw two interceptions and was benched late in the game when the Vikings were up 34-0. The team seemed to have a difficult time on all fronts during this game and were dominated by the Vikings.
Not having running back Joe Mixon (Concussion) didn’t help their offensive woes during this game, but he has put in two full practices and could see the field against the Lions on Sunday. The team is having linebacker troubles as both Nick Vigil and Vontaze Burfict were held from practice on Wednesday. Burfict was able to practice in limited fashion on Thursday.
Other players who were held from practice on Wednesday: tackles Cedric Ogbuehi (Shoulder), Andre Smith (Knee), and halfback Ryan Hewitt (Knee) who was limited in practice on Thursday.
Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick was limited in practice this week while he is dealing with a concussion. Keep an eye on his progress because if he is cleared to play he might shadow Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr.
Other players who were limited in practice this week: cornerback Darqueze Dennard (Knee), safety George Iloka (Shoulder), linebacker Vincent Rey (Mouth), safety Shawn Williams (Hamstring), and halfback Brian Hill (Ankle). Hill was able to practice in full on Thursday.
