What”s up Ravens Flock? Today we are going to be going over your questions and answers I have provided that you guys sent me either through Twitter or Reddit!
Question from Jimmy D: What is the one position the Ravens must draft on Defense?
I would say either linebacker for depth issues, Terell Suggs’ age, and help for C.J Mosley. But I also see cornerback pretty important with Brandon Carr not playing too well last year and Jimmy Smiths’ injury history.
Question From Jimmy D: What is the likelihood that the Ravens draft Defense in the 1st round?
Not very likely unless many of the top receivers are already selected when the Ravens go to pick at 16.
Question From Jimmy D: What are the chances that Breshard Perriman will be on the team week 1?
99%. This is true as Perriman is on the last year of his rookie year in 2018 so there is almost no reason to cut him. Although, this is a likely option in 2019 if he has another bad season in 2018.
Question From Ben S: Does Harbaugh get fired if the Ravens miss the playoffs again?
This is a question with a huge variable in it. That variable is, how many wins will Harbaugh get? If Harbaugh goes below .500 and misses the playoffs then I think there is a high chance he gets fired. But if the team finishes 9-7 and some injuries/ crazy plays happen to keep the team from the playoffs then I think he stays.
Question From Ryan B: “What are your realistic expectations for this season?”
I see the team finishing out a steady 9-7 or 10-6 while winning an AFC Wild Card to advance to the Divisional Round but then being knocked by a better team due to a few holes talent wise on the Ravens roster.
Question From Thomas P: “Do the Ravens cut ties with Flacco after the 2019 season even if they don’t have a good backup plan at QB?”
I think if the backup plan is not great then I do not see the Ravens parting ways with Flacco who would be about 35 at this time. If this were the case heading into 2020 the Ravens would most likely draft a quarterback or sign one and cut Flacco.
But if the backup plan is legitimate then yes I see the Ravens giving Flacco his walking papers to hopefully begin a new era of Ravens football.
Question From Daniel R: “What Are the Expectations for Kenneth Dixon and the Running Back Crew in General?”
I see Dixon kind of easing into his role while also stepping up as a receiving threat out of the backfield for Flacco to throw to. Without any injuries from the running backs, I see Dixon’s expectations to be 475 yards and about 350 receiving yards.
The rest of running back crew as of now consists of Alex Collins and Buck Allen. I think Collins bar is set up high as one of the better backs in the league rushing for about 900 yards and Allen will probably get around 400.
Question From: “Now that OBJ is on the trading block, how far would the Ravens go to pick him up?”
Honestly, I don’t see the Ravens too hot on the pursuit of Odell Beckham JR. The Giants asking price seems pretty high and add on the fact that even if the Ravens trade for him he said he will not play until he gets a new contract and the Ravens are in no state whatsoever to be dishing out 10+ million dollar contracts.
Question From Owen M: “How can the Ravens improve the TE situation? Is there any Day 2 or early day 3 TE’s that should be on the Ravens radar?”
To be blunt the tight end draft class talent really isn’t all too great this year. But one particular player the Ravens could target in the second round is Dallas Goedert if he fell to the second round. Goedert is a receiving tight end and stacked up many yards and touchdowns in college.
But go south in the draft for tight ends the Ravens could still try to progress Maxx Williams, Darren Waller will be back from his suspension, and hopefully, Vince Mayle will get some playing time. Free agency is also another option.
Question From Johnson: “Who would the Ravens likely take if we snagged a RB in the first 3-4 rounds?”
In rounds 3-4 I could potentially see the Ravens take Nick Chubb if he fell slightly, possibly Rashaad Penny, or Jaylen Samuels.
Question From Felix K: “What can the Ravens realistically do in the next 2-3 years to get out of cap space hell?”
Not much. The Ravens are in a state now where getting out of this cap space hole is going to take a few more years than you would hope. But a short-term solution could be to cut ties with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco and possibly either part ways with Jimmy Smith or restructure his contract if he returns as well
as let some players leave the team in free agency.
Question From The Baltimore Dummy: “Is Sony Michel a good pick with our second round pick?”
If Michel is still available when the Ravens pick in the second round then yeah I think that would be a great pick. Ravens fans always complain about the need for a playmaker on offense and Michel could totally be that for the team.
