The New England Patriots have officially named their captains for the 2026 season.
The six-player group is:
Kevin Byard III, Hunter Henry, Marcus Jones, Drake Maye, Morgan Moses and Robert Spillane.
The group is notable for how evenly it represents the roster. Maye and Henry give the offense two familiar leaders, while Moses brings veteran credibility to the offensive line. Defensively, Byard and Spillane provide experience at two different levels of the unit, while Jones adds one of the team’s most versatile and respected voices.
Maye’s inclusion is especially significant as he continues to grow into the face of the franchise. After helping lead New England to the Super Bowl last season, his role is no longer limited to being the team’s young quarterback. He is now firmly part of the leadership core.
For Mike Vrabel, the captain group reflects the identity the Patriots have tried to build around accountability, experience and consistency.
With the season opener against Seattle approaching, that leadership will be tested immediately.
