The Indianapolis Colts are not messing around anymore. After a successful season that fell short of expectations because of injuries to Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor, CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon felt change was necessary. She has been on the sidelines taking notes and evaluating everyone to make the Indianapolis Colts a winning franchise again.
Josh Downs Trade Rumors: Best Landing Spots After Colts WR Requests Deal
With the Colts starting the season slowly after things fell off the rails last season, General Manager Chris Ballard was fired, and now the fire sale is on. First, the Colts traded Quinton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers.
However, with the trade deadline approaching, these aren’t the only moves that will happen. Wide receiver Josh Downs has asked for a trade, and many are wondering about running back Jonathan Taylor’s fate.
During the recent episode of the Night Cap Recap, as seen on the Wire App on Full Press Coverage, Jim Biringer and Teddy Repantis discuss the Indianapolis Colts fire sale and how it would be smart to trade Jonathan Taylor.

Jonathan Taylor Trade Rumors: Packers, Seahawks, Broncos, Vikings Linked to Colts RB
Jim Biringer: “All right, let’s go. Fire sale time in Indy. You were texting me earlier today. A couple big trades from the Indianapolis Colts. We already know that Carlie Irsay-Gordon fired the general manager.”
Teddy Repantis: “Ballard is gone. Yeah, she got rid of him. And this is what she said at the end of last year. She said everybody’s up for evaluation. If we don’t think you’re doing your job, you’re going to be gone. No, no questions asked. So Ballard was let go.
Now the two big moves today: Quinton Nelson, All-Pro guard, traded to those Seattle Seahawks we were talking about. That’s a huge move for them, right? That bolsters their run game when Zach Charbonnet comes back, and then about a couple hours later, the 49ers reunite with DeForest Buckner.
I’m excited for this because he’s finally back home, because I always thought we should have never let him go. When the Niners made this move, I always thought Javon Kinlaw should have been the guy who was moved. We kept him a year too long. He’s now with the Jets, and he’s barely contributing.
Buckner went to the Colts, continued to be a dominant force; he’s probably been one of their best D linemen since he’s been there, and now he’s back on a contending team that sorely needs D-line help, with (Nick) Bosa still recovering and all the injuries the Niners have had.
Colts: Scouting Report: Quenton Nelson
So I believe the Colts are getting a fourth-round pick for him. There might be other compensation, but I think for the Niners, who a team that rarely makes these kind of in-season trades, (Kyle) Shanahan and (John) Lynch are kind of stubborn sometimes with this stuff. I’m loving this move.
So clearly, with those two big moves, Jimmy, I don’t know if Jonathan Taylor is going to be the next guy to go. I mean, the Colts are telling us that they’re not going to get rid of him, but you’re getting rid of an All-Pro guard and an All-Pro D lineman. What’s next, right?”
Biringer: “I think Jonathan Taylor is going to go. I do believe that he’s going to get traded.”
Repantis: “There’s two weeks to the deadline, so we’ll see.”
As far as where Downs could go, the San Francisco 49ers could add another wide receiver, and it makes sense. As for Taylor, many contending teams could use him, but the Minnesota Vikings make the most sense, given how much they’re being carried by their defence.
“And if we’re talking about teams that could trade for a running back, Jonathan Taylor, Minnesota right there- Taylor Made, no pun intended- for Taylor to go to because they’re missing a superstar stud running back,” Repantis said on the Night Cap Recap. “If they do this, their offense would instantly become one of the top in the NFL. Who cares who the quarterback is? You’d have Jonathan Taylor and Justin Jefferson make that move.”
It makes the most sense that the Vikings make this move for Taylor.
