On Sunday evening Cowboys insider Mike Fisher reported that a source close to the situation confirms the Cowboys’ interest in free agent middle linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
Source close to LB NaVorro Bowman situation tells me #Cowboys like him, as they did when free last Oct. 14. But DAL not YET prioritizing as they chase OL help in #NFLFreeAgency pic.twitter.com/c0KZBMXHwQ

Dallas was interested in Bowman after the 49ers cut him during the season. However, those desires never gained much traction as the Oakland Raiders refused to let Bowman leave the Bay Area.
Fisher also points out that while there is an interest on the Cowboys end, don’t expect for them to act on it anytime soon. It seems as though the front office has prioritized shoring up the offensive line early this week, as we detailed here with the scheduled visits of Cameron Fleming and Marcus Martin.
The 29 year old Bowman certainly appears to have plenty left in the tank. In 2017 he recored 127 combined tackles, an interception and fumble recovery. After losing Anthony Hitchens to the Chiefs early last week, the Cowboys have a hole in the middle of their defense. Bowman could be the perfect bridge type player to either give Jaylon Smith more time, or a potential draft pick time to get his legs under him if Smith slides outside.
After taking their acustumed first week of free agency off, it is nice to see some activity coming out of Frisco.
